The computer monitors the current through the rear lambda probe heater. If current is absent or out of normal, records P0141.
Low. The car drives normally. Without heat, the probe heats up slowly and the catalyst rating is delayed — hindering the emissions inspection.
Gasoline engines. Rear lambda probe, fuse, relay, wiring.
What does P0141 mean
The lambda probe only works properly when it is hot. That's why it has a built-in heater that heats it up after ignition. Most often, the heater itself burns out, and the solution is a new probe. The same failure with the front probe is P0135.
Symptoms
| Can it be driven?
Yes. It's not urgent, but the code will interfere with the review and may hide other errors while the light is on.
Common reasons
- Burnt heater in the probe — the most common reason.
- Burnt fuse of the heaters.
- Broken or frayed cable, oxidized coupling.
- Faulty relay or power supply (less often).
How we diagnose it
- We measure the resistance of the heater directly on the probe.
- We check the power supply and ground with the engine running.
- We check the fuse and wiring.
